Tech Kaiju Arena–Ninetology X1 VS Lenovo

004 edit

I was being approached by Eric from Ninetology to do a phone review. Later that I know, my email server has a little bit problem so I replied to him a little bit late. Then, when I was on my way to Singapore, Eric emailed me saying that they have slots for me to actually review their phones. I was bummed! Why lah why! So I replied back saying that I was on my way to Singapore and if he could hold onto the units until Monday, it’ll be great. So he did and I picked up my phone on Monday at Ninetology office, Glenmarie.

So, I was not going to talk about my experience getting the phone but my experience with the phone. I was given two different phones, one is from Ninetology which is the X1 and the other is from Lenovo which is the K900.

Oh yes, if you have not yet heard about Ninetology, Ninetology is actually an ASEAN made (Malaysia based) android phone with affordable price and you’d get something similar like Samsung and also other androids phones. It could be comparable to all the international phones out there. So let just see the comparison between Ninetology and also Lenovo phone here. Let see Ninetology phone first shall we?

This is the box of the Ninetology X1. It is huge, made from hard cardbox and it’s white in color. I love the simplicity of the color choices. The box itself looks like a Japanese flag.

When you slide out the top part, this is how the items inside it looks like. Simple and clean.

What you will be getting inside the box are;

- The back cover of the phone (YES! Included!)

-The USB Cable (For data transfer / charging)

So that was for Ninetology X1. What a very mouthful specs and pictures! Let see what Lenovo can offer you!

DSC09329 edit

This is how Lenovo K900 box looks like. A little bit (okay..a lot!) smaller than Ninetology packaging. Very sleek and nice! Handy and but bulky at all. Black color, with the cut out of the phone’s model.

DSC09330 editDSC09331 edit

This is how they do their packaging. Phone on top and all the accessories are below the phone. Kind of reminds me about Apple packaging. Small, use all the space as possible and very nice. It was also made from a hard box material.

DSC09328 edit

Just comparing the two boxes, Lenovo is much more smaller!

Let see if Lenovo phone could outcome Ninetology!

What you will be getting inside this small box?

- The phone (Obviously! haha)

- The USB Cable

- Extra Headphone Pieces

- Headphone

- Charger

So, compared to Ninetology, Lenovo gives an extra headphone pieces and not a phone cover.

DSC09339 edit

Apart from all the accessories, also Lenovo has their Product guide and Quick Start Guide books as well. I am not sure about a Warranty Card but I believe they do have also a 1 year warranty.

Lenovo actually uses a Micro-Sim so it has this little sim card pusher pin (Similar to Apple) thingy.

Now we can take a look at the phone, shall we?

If you do read all the specs and compare them, Lenovo has Intel inside and is only Dual Core compared to Quad Core to Ninetology. I could now actually detect the differences between the two. It goes all smoothly for me even on FIFA games.

The similarity would be the camera megapixel. Lenovo K900 has 13MP rear camera and 2MP front camera and so does Ninetology X1. So let’s compare both of the camera shall we? We can see who is the winner!

DAYLIGHT REAR CAMERA

LOW LIGHT REAR CAMERA

LOW LIGHT FRONT CAMERA

As far as the quality of the camera goes, I think Lenovo wins! I mean hey, they called their camera as a Super Camera and I do agree with it! But, one thing is that, Lenovo produce such a weird dimensional size of pictures. Since it has a wide screen, the vertical pictures are also wide. To me, Lenovo pictures has more sharpness and more crispier and more natural.

winner

So who wins this time? Let just set the categories.

BEST PACKAGING – LENOVO (Small and practical)

CAMERA – LENOVO

ACCESSORIES – NINETOLOGY (I think phone cover costs much more money than some earphone pieces. Just my two cents)

PHONE SIZE – NINETOLOGY

USABILITY – NINETOLOGY (Being not an Android person [This was my first time playing with Android phones] I believe that Ninetology interface and animations are pretty much easier to use than Lenovo. Although both uses the same Android 4.2 Jellybean, I think Ninetology are much more easier and not messy)

STAND BY TIME – NINETOLOGY

APPS – LENOVO (I am not sure if this is actually from the operating system but, Lenovo has this one function that I could not find in Ninetology which is the Shake to Lock function. I LOVE that function so much!)

I could not determined the winner by just one option. As for me, a blogger, of course I would choose a phone with better picture quality and of course that would be Lenovo but if you are not a picture person and just would like to own a smartphone for the sake of playing Facebook, Twitter, Candy Crush and all I would totally go for Ninetology cause of the size and the stand by time. It depends on what you are looking for.

Lastly, I would like to thank Eric from Ninetology and also Ninetology for this opportunity for me to experience having two android phones to play with. Oh yes I forgot to mention the price for both of the phones. Well, NINETOLOGY RRP is RM1099 while LENOVO K900 RRP is RM1699. So now you do the judges. What are the criteria that you look for in a phone? :)
